
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) – School Age, Supply
Northlea Community Childcare Centre is a non-profit Centre that provides care for children, toddlers (18 months) to 12 years old in a nurturing environment. Our daily activities support children’s physical/emotional well-being through enhancing their emotional, social, language, cognitive and physical skills. Through hands on experiences while keeping children’s interests and education in mind, we support children to develop their creativity and emotional regulation.
Reports to: Director, Northlea Community Childcare Centre
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and implement high quality early years learning programs based on the ELF model
• Provide a warm, nurturing and caring environment for children to support their self esteem
• Identify and respect each family and child’s individuality and plan educational activities accordingly
• Use a variety of techniques including: modeling, observing, documenting, questioning, and active listening
• Ability to manage children’s behavior through positive reinforcement
• Identify each child’s strengths, needs and enhancing their skills through hands on and open ended activities
• Develop a collaborative relationship with parents and support them to identify their child’s developmental strengths/needs through daily communication
• Work with children with special needs and their parents
• Maintain an organized, welcoming, safe, and educational environment
• Provide services with an awareness of, and sensitivity to, diversity/special needs issues
Qualifications:
• Registered Early Childhood Education degree or diploma and at least three (3) years related experience
• Up to date knowledge in CCEYA, How Does Learning Happen, and AQI
• Strong planning, time management, problem – solving and interpersonal skills
• Possess solid knowledge in child development
• Knowledge of Child Abuse policy
• Willingness to work flexible hours
• Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job
• Ability to communication fluently in English, verbally and in writing
• Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information appropriately and with sensitivity
• Special Needs Resource certificate is an asset
• Current training in First Aid and CPR
